The History of this Beautiful Marian Sanctuary dates back to 1813, when 'the battle of
nations' took place near Leipzig.
Polish Soldiers were fighting under Napoleon, among them Tomas Klossowski who was seriously wounded. Facing death, he began to invoke Our Lady, begging her not to let him die in a foreign land.
Our Lady appeared to him in his injured state.
Our Lady was wearing a beautiful Golden Dress with a Golden Crown in attendance.
She promised the Polish Soldier that She would save his life but He in return should find an Image similar to her appearance to him and have it installed in a fitting place to her.
Saint Pope John Paul 2 consecrated a Huge Marian Basilica in Lichen, Central Poland a few years before his death when he was well and able that would seat 7,000 People and that has been modeled on the Lines of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome.
This is the Seventh Largest Church -Basilica in the World.
